Newcastle lineup vs. Brentford: Predicted XI for Premier League clash as Harvey Barnes decision made

Three changes from Howe? Predicted Newcastle XI against Brentford

Newcastle United head coach Eddie Howe should be working with an almost identical squad for Saturday's Premier League clash with Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Magpies denied Liverpool victory in the dying embers of Wednesday's 3-3 draw, which Sven Botman, Jamaal Lascelles and Emil Krafth all missed as they recuperate from long-term injuries.

Kieran Trippier was also missing from the matchday squad on account of an illness and might be the only player to return for the weekend's game, but a start is likely out of the question.

Indeed, Howe has settled on a first-choice back four of Tino Livramento, Lewis Hall, Fabian Schar and Dan Burn in front of Nick Pope, and the Magpies boss should not alter that setup against the Premier League's best-performing home side this season.

There could be scope for some midfield changes given the tight turnaround time, though, as Joe Willock and Sean Longstaff are primed to provide fresh legs over Sandro Tonali and Joelinton.

Ever-present fulcrum Bruno Guimaraes should not be at risk of the axe, though, and the same goes for Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak in attack; the latter overcame a minor hip problem to play the full 90 against Liverpool.

Howe also went with Jacob Murphy rather than Harvey Barnes on the right-hand side on Wednesday, but having made that exact change on the 74-minute mark, he may now side with Barnes from the first whistle.

Newcastle United possible starting lineup: Pope; Livramento, Schar, Burn, Hall; Longstaff, Guimaraes, Willock; Barnes, Isak, Gordon
