Player Ratings: Newcastle United 1-1 Stoke City

Stoke City came from behind to salvage a 1-1 draw against Newcastle United in their Premier League match this afternoon.

Jack Colback fired the Magpies ahead just moments after he had escaped a second booking.

Gabriel Obertan and Ayoze Perez then squandered further chances for the hosts, before Peter Crouch headed in a last minute equaliser to earn Stoke a point.

NEWCASTLE UNITED

Goal

Tim Krul: Made a couple of fine saves to deny Diouf and Walters, but was left helpless in the final minute as Crouch's header looped over him and found the net. (6/10)

Defence

Daryl Janmaat: Good performance from the Dutchman who looked to help his side going forward and ensured that he was never caught out in behind. (7/10)

Fabricio Coloccini: Defended well and won his individual battle with Walters in what was a commanding performance. (7/10)

Mike Williamson: Was caught out on a couple of occasions, but generally defended well alongside his centre-back partner Coloccini. (6/10)

Massadio Haidara: Constantly got forward down the left and looked a real threat in the first half. He struggled to replicate that after the break, but stayed solid at the back. (6/10)

Midfield

Jack Colback: Enjoyed a good afternoon in the middle of the pitch and put in a robust display. However, he should have been sent off for a second bookable offence just minutes before he scored the opening goal. (7/10)

Vurnon Anita: Did not see too much of the ball with the Stoke midfield dominating, but helped to stem the flow of their attacks. (6/10)

Remy Cabella: One of the brightest sparks for Newcastle this afternoon. He looked good going forward and it was a surprise to see him taken off with over 20 minutes of the match left. (7/10) Sammy Ameobi: Had a great first half and played a number of decent passes to set up his team's attacks. He faded after the break, though, and struggled to replicate that impact. (6/10)

Moussa Sissoko: Energetic display as ever from the Frenchman, but he did not see enough of the ball in dangerous areas to make a difference. (6/10)

Attack

Ayoze Perez: Looked lively throughout the match and came close with a decent effort that went just wide in the first half. His team were made to pay for a poor miss late on though, as he blazed high over the bar shortly before Crouch scored the equaliser. (6/10)

Substitutes

Papiss Cisse: Made a decent impact after coming off the bench and added a real threat for the Stoke defence. (7/10) Gabriel Obertan: Played a big part in the goal with a good cross from the right, but a poor decision when through on goal ended up costing his team the three points. (6/10)

Mehdi Abeid: Barely had an impact after coming on for the last four minutes. (6/10)

STOKE CITY

Goal

Asmir Begovic: Was not overly troubled and could hardly have done anything to stop Colback's cleanly hit strike into the corner. (6/10)

Defence

Phil Bardsley: The former Sunderland man had a decent game at full-back and put in some strong challenges. (6/10)

Marc Wilson: Played well in the first half and made some vital interceptions, but was forced off with an injury shortly after the break. (7/10)

Marc Muniesa: Very solid outing from the centre-back. Was rarely beaten in the air and put in a commanding display. (7/10)

Philipp Wollscheid: Another good defensive performance from a Stoke player. He slotted in effortlessly and was never caught out of position. (7/10)

Midfield

Glenn Whelan: Helped Stoke to win the battle in the heart of the midfield and never shied away from a tackle. (7/10)

Steven N'Zonzi: The Frenchman showed some neat touches throughout for the Potters and was involved in many of their best moves. (7/10)

Stephen Ireland: Struggled to get into the match and was replaced by Crouch late on. (6/10)

Mame Biram Diouf: Was mainly forced back in the first half, but defended well. He got forward more as the game went on and almost scored with a close-range header that was beaten away by Krul. (7/10)

Victor Moses: Failed to make a big impact and was wasteful when in possession. (6/10)

Attack

Jonathan Walters: Gave the two centre-backs a good battle this afternoon, without ever really coming out on top. He did look a threat, though, and forced Krul to tip a late strike behind the post. (6/10)

Substitutes

Peter Crouch: Came on for the final eight minutes and scored the vital goal with a fine header at the back post. (7/10)

Geoff Cameron: Replaced the injured Wilson and slotted in well at the back. He also supplied the cross that Crouch headed in at the death. (7/10)
