Davide Santon admits he is enjoying life at Newcastle United after a difficult start

Newcastle United defender Davide Santon has revealed that he is loving life on Tyneside and thinks that will translate to an improvement on the pitch.

Santon joined Newcastle from Inter Milan last summer, and has nailed down a first-team spot after a tricky transition period.

The Italian international told The Independant: "Last season, the first few months were difficult for me because Serie A and the Premier League is totally different.

"But now I feel better on the pitch and more confident, so I am enjoying it.

"I am really enjoying it. I like Newcastle, I like the city and the people in it.

"The fans are brilliant, I like my team and I like the manager. Better than this is impossible."

Newcastle continue their Premier League campaign with an away match against Everton on Monday, September 17.
