Nile Rangers hits back at the Newcastle United supporters that jeered the team following today's defeat against Reading.

Newcastle United striker Nile Ranger has urged the club's supporters to get behind the team, rather than voicing their displeasure.

Following today's 2-1 defeat at home to fellow strugglers Reading at St James' Park, the Newcastle players left the field of play to a loud chorus of boos from the home support.

However, Rangers has encouraged those that feel the need to jeer to stay away.

"Certain fans need to not come and support this team... Coming out to BOOO us.. Stay at home.. Don't need ur BOO's.... SAY NO MORE," he wrote on Twitter. "Last thing from me... To all the fans. U are not forced to buy season tickets.. Or pay our wages.. Please remember that.

"If u are loyal fans.. Be with us.. When we are out there on the field.. Be the 12th man.. Don't come and BOO.. That aint going to help any1.

"Team is going through rough patch.. Last thing we need is fans against us #SIMPLEREALLY."

The Magpies are currently two points and two places above the relegation zone.
