Pardew: 'We need quality and experience'

Newcastle United manager Alan Pardew admitted that his side are lacking in "quality" and "experience" following their 2-1 home defeat to Everton.

The Magpies boss is hoping that the imminent signing of Mathieu Debuchy will set things right at St James' Park after watching his team lose their third game in a row.

"Signing Mathieu Debuchy is just a question of the medical really. He has quality and experience and that is what we missed tonight," BBC Sport quotes him as saying.

"Those key moments are costing us. Demba Ba has been hanging over us but we have drawn a line under it now. For us it's about bringing someone else in and we are working on that now."

Papiss Cisse gave Newcastle an early lead, but a Leighton Baines free kick and a second-half strike from Victor Anichebe sealed the points for the Blues.

The defeat leaves Newcastle in 15th place in the Premier League, just two points clear of the drop zone.
