Newcastle United have revealed that striker Yoan Gouffran did not suffer a broken leg during the side's defeat to Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday.
The 26-year-old was taken off on a stretcher in the 58th minute during the Toon Army's 2-1 defeat to Spurs at White Hart Lane.
Magpies boss Alan Pardew stated after the match that he was unsure of the damage done to the French forward, but the club have now released a statement denying that the player's injury is serious.
A club statement read: "Newcastle United are pleased to report that a precautionary X-ray has shown that Yoan Gouffran has not broken his right leg.
"The French forward was stretchered off during the second half of Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Tottenham Hotspur, and Gouffran will be further assessed on Sunday by the club's medical staff."
Gouffran joined the club in January from Bordeaux.
