Newcastle admit FA charge of failing to control players against Sunderland

Newcastle United admit to an FA charge of failing to control their players in last weekend's Sunderland defeat.

Newcastle United have admitted a charge of failing to control their players in last weekend's defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light.

The Football Association issued the charge in relation to the team's reaction to Fabricio Coloccini being sent off before the Black Cats went on to win 3-0.

A statement on Newcastle's official website read: "The club has admitted the charge but has submitted an application for it to be reassessed due to mitigating circumstances."

Coloccini's red card, which was issued after he shoved Steven Fletcher in the box, was overturned by the English governing body earlier this week.
