Newcastle United's Tim Krul faces month on the sidelines

Krul to face month layoff

Newcastle United goalkeeper Tim Krul is expected to be out of action for a month with an ankle injury.

The Dutch goalkeeper originally suffered the blow during the Magpies' 1-0 win over Metalist Kharkiv in the Europa League last week.

"His ankle is still a little bit swollen," manager Alan Pardew said in a press conference. "We think he will be out for a maximum four or five weeks but we are hoping for less than that."

Rob Elliot will continue to stand in for the shot-stopper throughout his injury.
