Newcastle United's Massadio Haidara says that he is "getting better" after his challenge with Callum McManaman.

Newcastle United defender Massadio Haidara has revealed that he is "getting better" following the injury he suffered against Wigan Athletic on Sunday afternoon.

The 20-year-old was taken to hospital after he had been on the receiving end of a high tackle from Callum McManaman - a challenge for which the Wigan winger yesterday escaped retrospective action.

While there has been no official confirmation as to the severity of Haidara's knee problem, the French youth international took to Twitter this afternoon in an attempt to allay any fears.

"I'm getting better, I want to THANK all of you for your message of support, its really touches me," he wrote.

The left-back joined Newcastle in January of this year from Nancy.
