Siem de Jong: 'I can stay at Newcastle United for five years'

Newcastle United forward Siem de Jong suggests that he plans to see out his contract at the club despite enduring an injury-plagued first season in the Premier League.

Newcastle United forward Siem de Jong has insisted that he wants to see out the remaining five years of his contract at the club.

The 26-year-old joined the Magpies from Ajax last summer, but his debut season was wrecked by two troublesome injuries that included a collapsed lung and a thigh problem.

The Dutch striker has made three appearances for Newcastle this season, however, and has since revealed that he plans to see out his deal until 2020.

"I can certainly stay here for five years. Tim Krul has been here for 10 years. But it does depend on many factors," said De Jong, according to the Daily Star.

The frontman previously made 168 appearances during a seven-year stint at Ajax, where he scored 57 goals in the process.
