Newcastle United defender Fabricio Coloccini has called on his teammates to replicate their fifth-place finish in the Premier League.

The 30-year-old played a key role in the Magpies side as they secured a spot in the Europa League, and he is confident that the club can build on their success next season.

"I enjoyed it, especially because we got qualification for the Europa League. For me that was very important," he told Sky Sports News.

"Overall, it was a consistent season. I think a lot of teams found it tough to beat us and that was important. Next season, we will try and do the same."

Coloccini has 154 Newcastle appearances to his name.
