Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi reveals that he is hoping to break into Alan Pardew's first team on a regular basis in the New Year.

Newcastle United forward Sammy Ameobi has revealed that he wants more first-team opportunities at the club next year.

The 20-year-old has made just 11 appearances so far this season, but is looking to force his way into Alan Pardew's plans much more regularly.

Ameobi understands that he has plenty of competition at St James' Park, though he believes that he can learn from the senior players and start to make a difference.

"I want to be playing a lot more football," Ameobi told Sky Sports News.

"I feel like I am passed the stage where I am the new kid on the block. I want to start making a difference.

"It is never easy getting into the first team, especially with the great players we have. There is no slacking. It is a case of watching and learning from players in your position. I am still learning the game and I am looking forward to continuing to do that."

Ameobi made his first-team debut for the Magpies in May 2011.
