Tim Krul closing on Newcastle United return

Newcastle United boss Alan Pardew has revealed that Magpies goalkeeper Tim Krul is closing in on a return to training.

The 24-year-old has been out of action since injuring his elbow on international duty with the Netherlands, but he could return for the clash with Reading on Saturday.

"Tim is looking for the all-clear on Wednesday to start back," Pardew told The Evening Chronicle.

Newcastle face Manchester United in the League Cup third round on Wednesday.
