How Newcastle United could line up against Brighton & Hove Albion

How Newcastle could line up against Brighton

Newcastle United will be looking to return to winning ways in the Premier League when they travel to fellow strugglers Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday evening.

The Magpies, who are currently 17th in the table, two points outside of the relegation zone, will again be without the services of Callum Wilson, Allan Saint-Maximin and Fabian Schar this weekend.

Miguel Almiron has made strong progress in his recovery from a knee problem, but this match is expected to come too soon for the attacker, leaving head coach Steve Bruce with the same squad from the 1-1 draw with Aston Villa last time out.

Jacob Murphy, Andy Carroll and Javi Manquillo all came off the bench against Villa and will be in the manager's thinking when it comes to potential alterations.

However, it would not be a surprise to see Bruce keep faith with the side that picked up a welcome point at St James' Park, meaning that Dwight Gayle could earn another start in attack.

Isaac Hayden, Jonjo Shelvey and Joe Willock should again feature in the middle of the park, with Sean Longstaff and Jeff Hendrick providing options from the bench.

Wilson is comfortably Newcastle's leading scorer in the league this season with 10 goals, and the fact that Carroll, Gayle and Joelinton have just three between them is an indication of the team's troubles.

Newcastle possible starting lineup: Dubravka; Krafth, Lascelles, Clark, Dummett; Willock, Shelvey, Hayden; Fraser, Gayle, Joelinton
