How Netherlands could line up against Montenegro

Netherlands will be looking to move one step closer to booking their spot at the 2022 World Cup when they take on Montenegro in their penultimate Group G contest on Saturday.

Holland - currently top of the section, two points clear of second-placed Norway - will be without the services of Steven Berghuis, Jurrien Timber and Joel Drommel, with all three players withdrawing from the squad.

Berghuis's absence opens up a spot in the final third of the field, and there could be a start for Arnaut Danjuma, who has been in excellent form for Villarreal during the 2021-22 campaign.

The 24-year-old has also now netted twice in three caps for his country, and he could be selected in a front three alongside Memphis Depay and Noa Lang.

A midfield three is expected to include Frenkie de Jong and Georginio Wijnaldum, with Davy Klaassen also likely to get the nod despite the competition in that area of the field.

Matthijs de Ligt is pushing to be involved alongside Virgil van Dijk in the middle of the defence, but Stefan de Vrij should keep his spot, with Denzel Dumfries and Daley Blind featuring in the full-back areas.

Donyell Malen, Devyne Rensch and Ryan Gravenberch are among the talented youngsters in the squad, and the trio will be hoping to be involved in some capacity over the next two matches.

Netherlands possible starting lineup: Biljow; Dumfries, De Vrij, Van Dijk, Blind; Klaassen, F de Jong, Wijnaldum; Lang, Memphis, Danjuma
