Attention turns to Turin on Sunday night, where Juventus and Napoli meet at the Allianz Stadium in one of the standout fixtures of Serie A matchday 22.
Only four points separate the two teams in the Italian top-flight table, with the Partenopei arriving in third place, while the Old Lady sit fifth, making this encounter crucial in the fight for a top-four finish and, perhaps, the title race.
Both clubs resume league duties after contrasting outings in Europe, with Juventus coming into the contest boosted by a 2–0 Champions League victory over Benfica, while Napoli were held to a 1–1 draw by 10-man Copenhagen in midweek.
The managerial subplot adds further interest, as Luciano Spalletti faces the club he famously led to the Scudetto in 2022-23, while Antonio Conte returns to familiar surroundings as he leads the Partenopei against his former side.
Here, Sports Mole takes an in-depth look at the head-to-head record and previous meetings between Juventus and Napoli ahead of Sunday's tantalising tussle.
Head-to-head record
Previous meetings: 185
Napoli wins: 49
Draws: 51
Juventus wins: 85
Despite the domination Juventus enjoyed in Serie A throughout the 2010s, Napoli have always proven a difficult opponent for the Bianconeri, especially in recent years.
Both sides recorded a win on home soil against each other in the 2023-24 campaign, but Napoli held Juventus to a 0-0 in Turin when they met in September 2024 before earning two 2-1 wins in 2025.
Juve would remain unbeaten in Serie A up until late January that season, before eventually losing in Naples to former manager Antonio Conte, going down 2-1 at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona, ruling Thiago Motta's men well and truly out of the title race that Napoli led.
It was Napoli again who got the better of the Old Lady in their two key battles which proved that Luciano Spalletti's men were the best in the land during the 2022-23 season.
Before their 10-point deduction and in the midst of an excellent run of form, Juventus travelled to the Maradona with hopes of closing the gap, but were blown away as Victor Osimhen and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia put on a masterclass in a 5-1 Napoli win in January 2023.
Massimiliano Allegri's side never truly recovered from that humbling, and when they were beaten again by the Partenopei on home soil in April thanks to Giacomo Raspadori's late strike, that virtually sealed the title for Napoli.
That has not been the only season where this fixture has played a big role in deciding the champions, though, as the two have had intense battles on more than one occasion in recent times when both were chasing the Serie A title.
Juventus' 2-1 win here in Naples in March 2019 helped to keep their opponents at arm's length as they raced to an eighth straight title, while an injury-time winner from Kalidou Koulibaly at the Allianz Stadium in April 2018 was not enough for Napoli, who still finished second behind the Bianconeri despite finishing on 91 points.
Sandwiched in between those two clashes was arguably the game of the season early in the 2018-19 campaign, when Juventus let a 3-0 lead slip, but still won thanks to Koulibaly putting through his net this time, again on 90 minutes, to hand the Old Lady a 4-3 win.
Less entertaining, but hugely significant was the Coppa Italia final played between these two sides in front of an empty Stadio Olimpico in 2020, which Napoli won 4-2 on penalties after 120 minutes of goalless action.
While there have been other Coppa clashes involving the two, the most dramatic cup tie between Napoli and Juve came in the 1988-89 UEFA Cup quarter-finals, where Maradona inspired his side to a phenomenal comeback.
There was a 5-3 win for Napoli at the Stadio Vittorio Pozzo and a 4-2 success for Juve at the San Paolo in their two Serie A meetings that season, but even they could not compare to the jubilation seen in the UEFA Cup clashes.
Two-nil down from the first leg, Napoli roared back in front of 89,000 adoring supporters to beat Juventus 3-0 after extra time, on their way to lifting the trophy that season.
