Napoli edge past Swansea City

Napoli edge out Swansea City 3-1 on aggregate in the Europa League.

Napoli have emerged victorious over Swansea City after a 3-1 win at Stadio San Paolo in the Europa League.

Following last week's goalless draw in Wales, the Italians started brightly and it was Lorenzo Insigne who opened the scoring on 17 minutes.

Jonathan de Guzman gave Garry Monk's side hope when he netted on the half-hour mark, and the 1-1 draw would have been enough to send the Premier League outfit through.

Wilfried Bony had a great chance to give the Swans breathing space but his powerful header was straight at Pepe Reina in the Napoli goal.

As the clock ticked down towards a historic European victory for the visitors, Gonzalo Higuain struck for Rafael Benitez's side 12 minutes from time, before Gokhan Inler made the result safe in stoppage time.
