Montpellier come from behind to edge Nice

High-flying Montpellier HSC came from being a goal behind to secure a 2-1 win against Nice in this afternoon's Ligue 1 clash at the Stade de la Mosson.

The visitors were quickest off the starting blocks and were dominant in the early stages of the game, as Carlos Eduardo and Alassane Plea weighed in with decent chances.

Indeed, Nice took the lead in the 36th minute when Mathieu Deplagne brought down Niklas Hult in the penalty area, prompting the referee to point to the spot.

Eric Bautheac stepped up and duly stroked the ball into the bottom-right corner to break the deadlock.

Nevertheless, Montpellier got themselves level on the stroke of half time, Bryan Dabo surging into the visitors' box and firing home.

And in the 66th minute, the turnaround was complete when Lucas Barrios was on hand to drive the ball past goalkeeper Mouez Hassan.

The result means that Montpellier continue to push forward for a European berth, sitting just a point behind fourth-placed Saint-Etienne in the table, while Nice are in 13th place.
