Late MK Dons strikes stun Leyton Orient

MK Dons stun Leyton Orient with two late goals to progress into the second round of the League Cup.

MK Dons netted two injury-time goals to stun Leyton Orient as Karl Robinson's men moved into round two of the League Cup with a dramatic 2-1 win over the League One side this evening.

Dons thumped their London counterparts 6-1 in one of their League One meetings last season to bring a narrow psychological edge into tonight's affair.

It was the hosts who looked the more likely to score early on, and Carl Baker's rasping effort was tipped away by Alex Cisak - who conceded those six last term - to maintain parity for the now-League Two side.

Mathieu Baudry headed over for Orient on the 10-minute mark, before Baker drilled narrowly wide midway through the half as both sides struggled for clear chances.

The breakthrough came on 37 minutes when Dean Lewington's botched clearance from a Dean Cox cross deceived goalkeeper Cody Cropper and it was enough for a half-time lead.

Orient found themselves under increasing pressure after the break, with Cropper forced into a number of routine saves as the Dons' attack struggled to forge the clear-chances needed to restore parity.

Dons seemed comfortably the better side throughout the second period, but it was not until added time when they made their dominance count.

First, Baudry headed Ben Reeves's teasing cross past his own goalkeeper, before Baker ran on to Simon Church's lay-off to finish coolly as Dons turned it around in timely fashion.
