Williams, Bowditch seal MK Dons progression

MK Dons have knocked Sheffield Wednesday out of the FA Cup with a 2-0 victory at Stadium:MK.

Miguel Llera and Nejc Peknic both forced David Martin into action early on, but the Owls soon fell behind when Lewis Buxton brought down Dean Bowditch inside the area.

The referee pointed to the spot, and Shaun Williams stepped up to put MK Dons in the lead.

Daniel Powell then had a chance to double the hosts' lead, but his lobbed effort was dealt with by Stephen Bywater.

Dave Jones's men pushed forward in the second half as they searched for a way back into the tie, but came up against a solid Dons defence.

Dean Bowditch secured progression to the fourth round with a stunning 35-yard free kick with 15 minutes remaining.

Karl Robinson's men now face the winner between Queens Park Rangers and West Bromwich Albion in the fourth round.
