Chris Taylor scored the winner to move Millwall into the playoffs after a 1-0 win over Leicester City in the Championship.

Chris Taylor came off the bench to net the winner and move Millwall into the playoff spots with a 1-0 win at Leicester City.

Taylor was introduced at the break before scoring the only goal of the game midway through the second half.

The visitors made the brighter start but failed to create any chances in the opening 15 minutes, despite their superiority in possession.

Millwall created the first real opportunity of the game, but Chris Wood placed his header wide of the target.

James Henry then tried his luck from outside the box but could only fire his effort past the post.

The Lions continued to enjoy the best of the chances, as Dany N'Guessan headed over the crossbar before Liam Trotter forced Foxes keeper Kasper Schmeichel into making a save.

Leicester then had a chance of their own, as David Nugent shot from an Anthony Knockaert free kick but David Forde made the save.

Forde was then called into action again moments later, as Danny Drinkwater turned a Knockaert corner goalwards but was denied by the host's keeper.

Millwall then went close through Mark Beevers, but he could only guide Henry's corner wide of goal.

The hosts made a change at the break, as Taylor replaced Scott Malone.

Neither keeper was tested in the early stages of the second half, with Taylor and Wood both firing wildly over the bar for Millwall.

The home side were finally rewarded for their dominance with 22 minutes left to play, as substitute Taylor tapped in Trotter's cross from the left to give Millwall the lead.

The Foxes stepped up their performance after going behind, and Ben Marshall's cross brought the best out of Forde in the Lions' goal.

Leicester continued to try to find a way back into the game, with Drinkwater and Marshall both going close.

Forde was again called upon to deny Marshall, as the midfielder's free kick was stopped by the 32-year-old.

The win moves Millwall up a place into the playoff spots while Leicester stay one position above the Lions in fifth.
