Millwall sack Steve Lomas

Millwall relieve manager Steve Lomas of his duties following the Lions' 4-0 loss at Watford.

Millwall have relieved manager Steve Lomas of his duties following the club's 4-0 loss at Watford.

The 39-year-old leaves The Den having guided his team to just six wins during 23 games in charge.

Millwall chief operating officer Andy Ambler told the club's official website: "We are very disappointed that it hasn't worked out for Steve. He has been thoroughly professional in his approach to the job during his short period with the club and remains a very promising young manager.

"However, the board feels that it is in the best interests of Millwall that we make the change at this time and the search for a successor to Steve begins immediately. We thank Steve for his efforts and wish him the very best for the future."

Neil Harris and Scott Fitzgerald have been placed in temporary charge of first-team affairs and the duo will be in charge when the Lions visit Doncaster Rovers on Sunday.
