Millwall frontman Darius Henderson has been released on bail after being arrested on suspicion of breaking a man's jaw in a restaurant.
The 30-year-old was detained by police on New Year's Day when they were called to Darcys restaurant in St Albans after an altercation broke out with a fellow diner.
A spokesman for Hertfordshire police said: "Police were called to Darcys restaurant in St Albans at around 1.30am on Sunday, January 1 to reports a man had been assaulted.
"It is believed a verbal altercation had taken place before the victim, a 41-year-old man from St Albans, was allegedly punched to the face. He suffered a broken jaw and was taken to hospital for treatment.
"A 30-year-old man from Markyate was arrested on suspicion of GBH. He has been released on police bail until early February."
Henderson is Millwall's top scorer this season with nine goals.
