Middlesbrough captain Jonathan Woodgate has revealed that he does not enjoy the style of football played by teams in the Championship.
The former England defender believes that the majority of teams in the league are out to prevent possession football, and he is eager to lead Boro back to the Premier League for a change of approach.
"The Championship is a lot of long ball," Woodgate told GazetteLive. "There's not enough time and space to play much pretty football.
"Players work as hard as they can, teams beaver away and close down quickly and don't let the opposition play open and expansive football.
"I really don't enjoy this league. I want this club to be back playing in the Premier League. That's what I came back to Boro for."
Middlesbrough finished 12th in the Championship last season.
