Aitor Karanka "not getting carried away"

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka insists that his side aren't getting carried away with their festive form that has seen them win three games on the bounce.

Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka has warned his players that they haven't achieved anything yet despite them recording a third Championship win in a row on Sunday.

Boro beat Reading 3-0 at the Riverside Stadium thanks to a brace from Grant Leadbitter, which came after Albert Adomah's opener.

The victory lifted Boro to 15th in the table, six points adrift of the playoff places, and while he is pleased with both the performance and result against the Royals, Karanka has insisted that his side are not getting carried away with their promising festive form.

"Of course I am happy, we had a good game and worked hard as a team - and we won again and we can enjoy that," he told reporters.

"But I am not getting carried away yet. It is important for a team to win two or three games in a row. It gives you momentum and moves you up the table. But if anyone thinks that gives us anything they are wrong. We have won nothing yet.

"I still want more from my team, from individuals and from the group. There is still room to improve. It shows that we are capable of winning games and playing well. Now we have to work harder to do that every game."

Boro travel to Bolton Wanderers on New Year's Day.
