Mansfield Town earn draw with MK Dons

League Two side Mansfield Town held their Championship opponents MK Dons to a 1-1 draw in a pre-season fixture at the One Call Stadium this evening.

Darren Potter dragged the opening chance of the game wide of Scott Shearer's post on 10 minutes for MK Dons as the higher-ranked side started brightly.

Stags striker Matt Green thought that he had opened the scoring against the run of play when he fired home, only for his effort to be ruled out for offside.

Carl Baker saw his appeals for a penalty waved away after he went down under the challenge of Malvind Benning as MK Dons continued to threaten, but it was the home side who took the lead on the stroke of half time.

The goal came when Green combined well with Chris Clements, who pulled the ball back for Nathan Thomas to score with the last kick of the half.

However, the visitors were level on the hour mark when Daniel Powell stabbed home at the second attempt after breaking free on the right.

Dean Bowditch and Baker went close for Karl Robinson's side in the final 10 minutes, but Mansfield held on for a credible draw.
