Arsene Wenger quiet on Robin van Persie return

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger opts against discussing reports linking Robin van Persie with a move back to the Emirates Stadium.

Arsene Wenger has refused to comment on speculation that has linked Robin van Persie with a return to Arsenal.

The Dutch striker left the Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2012 for Manchester United, who he helped to win the Premier League title last season.

However, recent reports have suggested that the 30-year-old has grown unhappy with life at Old Trafford under David Moyes's management and would welcome a move back to the Gunners.

When asked by reporters about that rumour, Arsenal manager Wenger replied: "I don't think that's an ideal subject for us to treat today. I think it is best we don't talk about that at the moment."

Van Persie is expected to be part of the United side that take on Arsenal in North London tomorrow night.
