Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim said "let's wait and see" when questioned on the future of Rasmus Hojlund, who continues to be linked with a move to Napoli.
Hojlund was left out of the Man United squad for last weekend's Premier League opener against Arsenal, with the Denmark international not believed to be in Amorim's plans moving forward.
A proposed switch to AC Milan has seemingly fallen through, with Napoli now said to be at the head of the queue; the Italian champions could sign the 22-year-old on loan for the 2025-26 campaign, with an obligation to purchase the striker during next summer's transfer window.
When asked how Hojlund reacted to being dropped against Arsenal, Amorim said: "Like a professional player. We need to see. Let's wait and see when the market closes and then everything will be clear."
Amorim was further quizzed on transfers, and the 'bomb squad', with Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho and Tyrell Malacia all currently training away from the main group.
Hojlund, Garnacho, Antony, Sancho, Malacia could all leave Man United before transfer deadline
"You have to talk with Jason [Wilcox]. We have a department that is responsible for that part. I'm just focused on Sunday's game. We talk every day. We talk about all the situations.
"It's not an idea that these guys [the 'bomb squad'] are going to leave, to play in a different club and then we'll receive another player. We don't know what is going to happen, but we're not waiting to take out someone to get another. I think the players you are talking about are not with this group at this moment."
There has also been speculation surrounding Kobbie Mainoo's future this summer, and the England international was an unused substitute against Arsenal last weekend.
The 20-year-old has struggled to make his mark since Amorim's arrival as head coach last November, and discussions over a new contract are not believed to be advancing.
Amorim delivers update on Mainoo future amid contract uncertainty
"That part is with Jason [Wilcox]. He is our player. He has a contract. I didn't hear any news about that," said Amorim when asked about a potential new contract for Mainoo.
"We have some issues, but we play with two midfielders and sometimes it's a different way of playing. We, and they, have to understand, especially the young players, there is spaces in the season. This is normal with a lot of games, things are going to change, but he's there, he's fighting, he's training and is one more option for us to win games."
Mainoo has made 72 appearances for Man United in all competitions, scoring seven goals and registering two assists in the process, and his current contract is due to run until the summer of 2027.
