Louis van Gaal tight-lipped on possible new Manchester United signings

Louis van Gaal remains quiet on potential transfer targets, but hints that new signings will be made at Manchester United before the window closes next Monday.

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has suggested that there may be a few more arrivals coming through Old Trafford before the transfer window shuts on September 1.

The Dutchman refused to discuss potential targets, but he hinted that the club hope to add to the summer captures of Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Angel di Maria.

Ajax defender Daley Blind, who worked under Van Gaal with the Netherlands at the World Cup in Brazil earlier this summer, has been linked with United, as has Juventus midfielder Arturo Vidal.

Van Gaal, who is yet to win a competitive fixture as United manager, also revealed that he expects some players to leave the club before the deadline.

When asked about potential transfer activity during the unveiling of Di Maria, Van Gaal said: "I cannot say anything [about new signings]. It shall raise the price, but players will also go in the meantime.

"I have had conversations with the players and said maybe, after this weekend, we will have another group, because players will go away and others will come in. We will have to see."

Meanwhile, Di Maria will follow in the footsteps of George Best, Eric Cantona, David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo after he was given the number seven shirt.
