Manchester United 'concerned over David de Gea contract'

Manchester United apparently grow concerned with David de Gea's contract situation following reported interest from Real Madrid.

Manchester United are reportedly growing increasingly concerned that David de Gea could leave on a free transfer, having yet to sign a contract extension.

The Spanish international has been one of the United's most consistent performers so far this season, but the Daily Express claims that interest from Real Madrid may be having an impact on the 24-year-old's long-term plans.

De Gea joined the Red Devils from Atletico Madrid for £17.8m in 2011, but is yet to agree a new deal and the club may have to try and persuade their keeper to sign an extension soon or risk losing him for nothing in 2016.

Real boss Carlo Ancelotti is thought to be interested in De Gea as a possible replacement for veteran stopper Iker Casillas, who has come under fire for his form so far this season.

However, it is believed in some quarters that the Spaniard is simply waiting to see how Louis van Gaal's team fares in their quest to qualify for the Champions League before committing his future to the Old Trafford outfit.
