Islam Slimani is reportedly attempting to force through a January move to Manchester United and has asked for his loan from Leicester City to Monaco to be cut short.

Islam Slimani has reportedly asked if he can cut short his loan spell at Monaco in order to seal a January move to Manchester United after the Old Trafford club enquired about his availability.

The Algerian international is currently on loan at Monaco from Leicester City, where he has managed seven goals and seven assists in Ligue 1 so far this season.

According to the Daily Mail, United would have to pay £4m to secure Slimani on loan until the end of the season, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer desperate to add firepower following Marcus Rashford's injury.

The report adds that Slimani has now asked for his loan to be terminated so he can move to Old Trafford before the transfer deadline on Friday.

The 31-year-old joined Leicester in 2016 from Sporting Lisbon and scored 13 goals in 46 appearances while at the King Power Stadium.

Slimani also spent time on loan at Newcastle United in 2018, but made just four appearances.
