Six-time European Cup winners emerge as 'serious contenders' for Garnacho

Bayern Munich have reportedly emerged as surprise suitors for Manchester United attacker Alejandro Garnacho.

The Bundesliga champions are bidding to bring a new winger to Allianz Arena during this summer's transfer window.

According to ESPN, Bayern have been in touch with Man United to ascertain how much it would take to sign Garnacho, who is available for transfer this summer following the breakdown in his relationship with Red Devils head coach Ruben Amorim.

Garnacho's relationship with Amorim broke down following the Europa League final, with the Argentina international critical of his manager's decision to leave him out of the starting side.

The 21-year-old's brother, who acts as his agent, also had some stern words for the Man United head coach, and Garnacho was informed soon after that he was free to leave this summer.

Bayern 'emerge as suitors' for Man United's Garnacho

Garnacho is believed to be keen to remain in the Premier League, with Aston Villa, Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur all viewed as candidates to sign the ex-Atletico Madrid youngster this summer.

However, it is being reported that Bayern are also in the hunt, with the Bundesliga champions touching base with Man United over a potential move for the attacker.

Man United had allegedly initially set an asking price of £70m for Garnacho, but it is likely that he would now be allowed to leave for a fee in the region of £40m due to the English club's desire to sell.

Garnacho scored 11 goals and registered 10 assists in 58 appearances for Man United last season, proving to be one of the club's most productive players during an incredibly difficult campaign.

Garnacho 'wants to stay in the Premier League'

The forward has managed 26 goals and 22 assists in 144 appearances for Man United in all competitions, and there is no doubt that he is a serious talent, but there remain question marks over his attitude.

Garnacho is settled in England and allegedly wants to continue his career in the Premier League.

However, the chance to make the move to Bayern would surely appeal considering that the club will again be expecting to challenge for all of the major trophies during the 2025-26 campaign.

Such a transfer would also be excellent news for Man United, as he would not be able to haunt them in the Premier League, while any sale would count as pure profit under the Premier League's rules surrounding profit and sustainability.
