Wayne Rooney to sign new bumper contract at Manchester United this week?

Wayne Rooney is reportedly poised to sign a new bumper contract at Manchester United this week following reports that he will earn £300,000 per week.

Wayne Rooney will reportedly put pen to paper on a new contract at Manchester United later this week.

Widespread reports have claimed that the England international, who is said to have previously twice asked to leave Old Trafford, has agreed to sign a deal worth £300,000 per week.

After reports emerged, United moved swiftly to deny that a record-breaking contract has been sealed.

However, according to PA Sport journalist Paul Hirst, Rooney is expected to sign fresh terms on a five-and-a-half-year contract on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

United are currently seventh in the Premier League table, 11 points adrift of fourth-placed Liverpool.
