Report: Van Gaal instructs United to sell De Gea

Manchester United boss Louis van Gaal has told the club's hierarchy to sell keeper David de Gea, according to a report.

The 24-year-old has been heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid throughout the summer as his contract with the Red Devils expires at the end of next season.

Van Gaal has outlined his desire to resolve the issue before the start of the campaign by telling vice-chairman Ed Woodward to make a deal with Real Madrid for the sale of the Spaniard.

Madrid are said to have had a bid in the region of £15m rebuffed by United, with the Red Devils looking for a fee of £25m to complete the sale of De Gea, reports The Mirror.

The Dutchman has lined up a move for Jasper Cillessen to replace the Spaniard at the club, although United did secure the signing of Sergio Romero.
