Report: Arjen Robben emerges as Manchester United's top transfer target

Report: Robben Man Utd's top target

Manchester United have reportedly placed Bayern Munich star Arjen Robben at the top of their transfer wishlist this summer.

The Red Devils are widely expected to announce Netherlands boss Louis van Gaal as the club's permanent manager in the coming days following David Moyes's axe in April.

According to the Manchester Evening News, Van Gaal, who coached Robben at Bayern, could reunite with the Dutchman at club level, and Robben's ability to link up with fellow international Robin van Persie is also said to be key to the move.

Robben's father reportedly calmed talk of his son moving to Old Trafford by insisting that the 30-year-old is happy in Germany with Bayern.

Meanwhile, Van Gaal has suggested that Van Persie will be named captain next season over Wayne Rooney, who was expected to take the armband under Moyes.
