Interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick has reportedly set out the profile he wants for a new midfielder at the club.
The Red Devils are in the market for midfield reinforcements having failed to bolster their ranks in that area of pitch during the summer transfer window.
The likes of Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham have been linked with moves to Old Trafford, and The Athletic reports that both would fit the bill.
Rangnick is reportedly keen to bring in a tall and dominating presence in the middle of the park as a long-term replacement for the ageing Nemanja Matic.
The report also claims that RB Leipzig's Amadou Haidara is another name on Rangnick's wish list, and he would be the cheapest option for Man United.
The 20-time champions of England are not expected to be too busy in terms of incomings next month, although a number of players have been linked with moves away from the club.
Twenty-three-year-old Haidara has made 18 appearances for Leipzig this season, scoring three goals.
