Premier League clubs 'push for October extension to transfer market'

Premier League clubs are reportedly keen for this summer's transfer window to be open until October.

England's top flight is due to return on June 17, more than two months after the last fixture was played, with the coronavirus pandemic seeing the league postponed.

As it stands, the 2019-20 campaign is due to run until the end of July, leaving clubs with little time to conduct their business before the traditional summer window closes in August.

According to The Telegraph, a number of Premier League clubs want the market to run from August until October to allow them to complete their business without the distraction of competitive action.

The financial impact of the coronavirus outbreak is likely to be felt across the sport, but Manchester United are reportedly still confident of completing a big-money move for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

Chelsea and Arsenal are also expected to be active in the upcoming market.
