Newcastle United are reportedly ready to reignite their interest in Benfica forward Darwin Nunez.
Having scored 32 goals in Primeira Liga and the Champions League this campaign, the Uruguay international is being tipped to depart the Portuguese giants this summer.
A number of Premier League clubs are known to be interested in signing the 22-year-old with Manchester City and Manchester United said to be toying with the idea of putting forward a proposal.
However, according to The Mirror, they will likely face competition from Newcastle, who held an interest in signing Nunez in January.
The report claims that the Magpies have already "heavily scouted" Nunez as they prepare to sign at least one new frontman ahead of the 2022-23 season.
Last month, it was claimed that Newcastle were prepared to pay £50m for the player, although it may require a higher fee to win the race for his signature if a bidding war materialises over the coming months.
