Jesus Navas: 'I want the best for Sergio Ramos'

Manchester City's Jesus Navas insists that he wants the best for former Sevilla teammate Sergio Ramos, who is being linked with a move to Manchester United.

Jesus Navas has insisted that he wants "the best" for Sergio Ramos amid speculation that the defender could be on his way to Manchester United.

The duo both came through Sevilla's academy, with Navas moving on to Manchester City two years ago and Ramos joining Real Madrid in 2005.

Asked about the prospect of facing his friend in the Manchester derby, Navas told AS: "All I want is the best for him. I want him to be happy wherever he is. Ramos is a fantastic teammate, a great footballer and I always wish him the best whatever he does. He is at a massive club and I don't know what will happen. I am only concerned with my own club.

"I haven't spoken to him lately. The last time I saw him was at a friend's wedding at the start of the summer. We got together to enjoy ourselves during the holidays and I think he will be fully focused on Madrid, he's a great professional. Will he remain at Madrid for the next few years? I've no idea, that's something you have to ask him."

Real manager Rafael Benitez has insisted that Ramos will not be leaving the club.
