Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount is reportedly due to hold talks with Mauricio Pochettino in the event that a transfer to Manchester United does not happen.

Mason Mount is reportedly preparing to tell Chelsea head coach Mauricio Pochettino that he will continue to 'give everything' while he remains at Stamford Bridge.

The midfielder has spent the last four years in the Chelsea first team, making a total of 195 appearances and playing a key role in the club's Champions League 2020-21 triumph.

However, it has become apparent that the academy graduate is highly likely to depart the West Londoners either this summer or at the end of next season.

Mount currently has one year left on his contract and it appears unlikely that he will give any consideration to a renewal unless circumstances or offers on the table change.

Reports have persisted that Manchester United are the 24-year-old's preferred destination, with the Red Devils having recently pushed hard to wrap up a deal.

Despite the need to generate funds as quickly as possible and avoid losing Mount on a free transfer, Chelsea's owners have so far rejected three bids made by the Red Devils.

As it stands, the relative parties have reached an impasse with United refusing to up their bid above the current one on the table, said to be in the region of £55m.

With proposals from other teams not forthcoming, Mount finds himself in a situation where he may have to see out the final 12 months of his deal at Chelsea.

According to The Telegraph, Mount will attempt to avoid any issues while still at Chelsea by holding discussions with new head coach Mauricio Pochettino.

The Argentine has been planning to begin life at Chelsea without Mount at his disposal and work is already underway to find alternative solutions.

Nevertheless, Mount is ready to tell Pochettino that he will remain committed to doing his best for Chelsea as long as he remains at the club.

The report adds that the current plan is for Mount to return to pre-season training as scheduled in a bid to cover all bases ahead of next season.

Chelsea are due to play a number of matches in the United States and it is allegedly plausible that Mount will feature on that tour if there have been no further developments involving United or another club.
