Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford hits back at claims that he could be offered a £400,000-a-week contract by the Red Devils.

Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford has taken aim at reports claiming that he could be in line for a £400k-a-week deal at Old Trafford.

The 25-year-old's long-term future is currently shrouded in uncertainty, as he will soon enter the final six months of his contract with the Red Devils.

Should Rashford opt against signing a new deal at the Theatre of Dreams, he will be able to begin pre-contract talks with foreign clubs next month before leaving on a free transfer.

Man United manager Erik ten Hag has affirmed that the club will extend the one-year option in Rashford's contract to keep him on the books until 2024, but his future beyond the end of next season is still unclear.

A recent report claimed that Man United were prepared to make the England international their best-paid player on a £400,000-a-week contract if he committed himself to the club for the next few years.

David de Gea is currently the Red Devils' top earner on a £375k-a-week wage, with Cristiano Ronaldo's £500k-a-week salary being slashed from the books after his contract termination.

It was alleged that Rashford rejected a deal worth £300k a week, but the striker has taken to social media to hit out at the 'made-up' claims after he caught a whiff of the reports.

"Can we please stop making up these stories? Mine and the club's objectives are to hopefully get into the Champions League this season. This isn't helpful. Thank you," Rashford tweeted.

Rashford is understood to be on the radar of Paris Saint-Germain are reigniting his Man United career, with the French champions supposedly readying a £850k-a-week contract offer.

Barcelona are also apparently keeping a close eye on developments after Rashford forced his way into the England squad for the 2022 World Cup, and he came up with three goals in Qatar.

Rashford amassed a trio of strikes despite only starting one of England's five games en route to the quarter-finals, and he has been a regular for Ten Hag at Man United since the Dutchman's arrival.

The Red Devils academy graduate has come up with eight goals and three assists in 19 appearances this season, taking his total for the club to 101 goals and 60 assists in 322 matches in all tournaments.

Rashford is not the only Man United player set to have their contracts extended until 2024, as Man United plan to active similar options in the deals of defenders Luke Shaw and Diogo Dalot.

Number one goalkeeper De Gea could also leave on a free transfer at the end of the season, but United are allegedly willing to let the Spaniard depart after 12 years at the club.

Man United are back in competitive action on Wednesday evening, as Championship leaders Burnley visit Old Trafford for the fourth round of the EFL Cup.
