Man Utd transfer news: Red Devils 'willing' to offer £60m to sign La Liga midfielder

Manchester United are reportedly showing keen interest in signing Athletic Bilbao's attacking midfielder Oihan Sancet, who has emerged as the 'top target' for the Red Devils. 

Since progressing through the youth academy at Bilbao, Sancet has made over 200 appearances for the Basque club, scoring 43 goals. 

The 25-year-old is seen as one of La Liga's biggest talents, and several Premier League clubs are said to be vying for his signature after he scored 17 goals in 2024-25, his best season of his career. 

The attacking midfielder has made gradual progress since 2019, and he embodies the essence of Bilbao's sporting project, which is based on youth and commitment. 

Man Utd eye move for Sancet?

According to a report from Fichajes, Man Utd are willing to offer a fee of around £60m to sign the attacking midfielder, as they feel that the Navarrese footballer fits their criteria. 

The Red Devils could face strong competition from other Premier League rivals, with Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa reportedly linked with moves in recent weeks. 

Ruben Amorim is looking for a player with the ability to connect forward lines and score goals from midfield, and Sancet is capable of doing that. 

Bilbao are working to offer him a better contract, but they understand it could be difficult to retain him if the heavyweight Premier League clubs make a lucrative offer. 

Moreover, Sancet has indicated that he is open to exploring other options in the future, but at the moment, he is fully focused on the Bilbao project.

Amorim has Mason Mount and Bruno Fernandes as two quality attacking midfielders, but Sancet can provide something extra, which should benefit the Red Devils in the long run.

The Spain international can also play as a false nine and has shown his tactical adaptability in 4-2-3-1 and 4-3-3 formations, where he occupied various attacking positions without losing impact. 

Known for his refined technique, his footballing maturity, ball-playing capability, and ability to burst from midfield make him an attractive player, and he could be a fantastic signing for Man Utd if they can agree a fee.
