Manchester United reportedly join rivals Liverpool in the race for Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius, who has had a hand in 22 goals from as many league games this term.

Manchester United are reportedly keeping tabs on Benfica striker Carlos Vinicius ahead of a possible summer move.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is known to have made signing a new centre-forward one of his main priorities for the upcoming window, having failed to bring in a permanent replacement for Romelu Lukaku since he left the club last summer.

A whole host of strikers have been named as possible targets, including current loanee Odion Ighalo, and Portuguese outlet A Bola reports that Vinicius is being considered as another option.

The 25-year-old has scored a league-leading 15 goals this season, while also providing seven assists in just 22 Primeira Liga outings.

United's fiercest domestic rivals Liverpool, in addition to Wolverhampton Wanderers, have also been credited with an interest in Vinicius, though, while his release clause of €100m (£87.7m) would be another major stumbling block in any pursuit.

The Red Devils want to bring in a new striker, winger and midfielder this summer, but already face an outlay of more than £150m if they are to land their top targets - Jadon Sancho and Jack Grealish - in the other two positions.
