Man United transfer news: Benjamin Sesko 'waiting for permission' to travel to UK ahead of RB Leipzig move

Man Utd 'optimistic' of reaching agreement for Sesko: What happens next?

Manchester United are 'optimistic' of reaching a deal for RB Leipzig striker Benjamin Sesko in the coming days.

Premier League rivals Newcastle United are also interested in signing the 22-year-old striker, but he is reportedly leaning towards moving to Old Trafford instead

Fabrizio Romano claims that Man Utd are in direct talks with Leipzig to adjust fee packages and add-ons, and the Red Devils are trying to get the deal done at the earliest.

Sesko has agreed personal terms with United, and the Slovenian striker is set to sign a five-year contract at Old Trafford.

Sesko waiting to fly to the UK

Newcastle offered a guaranteed fee of €80m (£69.7m), plus a further €10m (£8.7m) in add-ons, after their opening bid was rejected.

Man Utd, on the other hand, proposed a fixed fee of €75m (£65.2m) with €10m (£8.69m) in bonuses to sign the striker.

According to Ben Jacobs, the Red Devils believe that they can secure his signature and are currently negotiating the structure of the deal.

Sesko has made up his mind to join the Red Devils only and is now waiting for permission to travel to the UK.

How could Sesko's decision impact Hojlund's future?

After missing out on Liam Delap to Chelsea and Viktor Gyokeres to Arsenal, it appears that United are finally going to land a top-quality striker.

Sesko will no doubt become the first-choice striker at United, and his potential arrival could pave the way for Rasmus Hojlund's departure.

According to the Manchester Evening News, the former Atalanta striker is likely to leave the 20-time English champions this summer, although he expressed his desire to remain at Old Trafford and fight for his place.
