Man United's Alexander Isak transfer stance 'revealed' as Red Devils face 'struggle' to sign a new striker

Man United's Isak stance 'revealed' after Newcastle star's transfer bombshell

Manchester United are reportedly highly unlikely to move for Newcastle United's Alexander Isak during this summer's transfer window, while deals for RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko and Chelsea's Nicolas Jackson are also viewed as unrealistic.

The Red Devils spent £62.5m on Matheus Cunha earlier this summer, while they have also signed Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford for an initial £65m, although the transfer will eventually cost £71m.

Man United would like to bring in a new forward this summer due to Rasmus Hojlund's issues last term, with Sesko and Jackson among those linked, while there have been claims that the 20-time English champions could move for Isak.

However, according to the Manchester Evening News, Ruben Amorim's side are not expected to make an offer for Isak, who has allegedly told Newcastle that he wants to leave St James' Park this summer.

Liverpool are instead viewed as the favourites for Isak, who reportedly asked Newcastle to leave him out of their pre-season tour of Asia to allow him to seek a move away from the Magpies.

Man United 'not expected' to move for Isak, Sesko or Jackson

Newcastle are believed to want as much as £150m for Isak, putting him out of Man United's price range, even if the Red Devils are able to sell the likes of Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.

According to journalist Craig Hope, moves for Sesko and Jackson are also seen as unlikely due to the numbers involved.

RB Leipzig would reportedly be willing to sell Sesko for a fee in the region of £61m this summer, while Chelsea are thought to want as much as £100m for Jackson, who is currently being linked with an exit.

Man United still want to sign a new striker, but the 20-time English champions, who are currently in the United States on a pre-season tour, could find themselves shopping in a different market.

Is Watkins a transfer target for Man United?

Man United are also being linked with a move for Aston Villa forward Ollie Watkins, but the England international could cost as much as £60m, potentially meaning that he is also not an option.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains a free agent following his departure from Everton, and Man United have previously been credited with an interest in his services, while Paris Saint-Germain's Randal Kolo Muani and Juventus' Dusan Vlahovic are also thought to be on the club's radar ahead of next season.

As it stands, Hojlund, Joshua Zirkzee and Chido Obi are Man United's centre-forward options at senior level for the 2025-26 campaign.
