Report: Manchester United to trigger Sergi Roberto release clause

Manchester United are reportedly willing to trigger the rumoured £36m release clause in Sergi Roberto's Barcelona contract this summer.

Manchester United have reportedly considered making a move for Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto.

The 25-year-old's future at Camp Nou is thought to be unclear after Ernesto Valverde's arrival in the managerial hotseat.

In addition, Neymar's departure to Paris Saint-Germain has led to Barca being linked with several high-profile midfielders and attackers, which may push Roberto further down the pecking order.

According to Spanish outlet Don Balon, the Spain international has a £36m release clause in his contract and Man United are said to be willing to meet it.

However, it has also been suggested that Chelsea and AS Monaco may be in the hunt for Roberto, who is contracted to Barca until 2019.

Roberto, who joined the Blaugrana academy from Tarragona club Gimnastic, has made 153 appearances for the Catalan giants.
