Manchester United have reportedly identified Argentine defender Cristian Romero as a potential target ahead of this summer's transfer window.
The Red Devils are expected to bring a new centre-back to the club in the upcoming market, and Real Madrid's Raphael Varane is still believed to be an option for the 20-time English champions.
However, according to Sky Sports News, Romero is also a target, with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's side impressed by his performances for Atalanta BC during the 2020-21 campaign.
The Argentine is only on loan at Atalanta from Juventus, but La Dea will allegedly make the move permanent during this summer's transfer window for around €25m (£21.5m).
The Italian club are then said to be open to selling the centre-back on for a fee in the region of €40m (£34m), with Man United keeping a close eye on the developments surrounding the South American.
Romero has scored three times and registered five assists in 39 outings for Atalanta this term.
