Manchester United will reportedly miss out on £70m if they failure to secure Champions League football for next season.

Manchester United will reportedly miss out on £70m if they do not earn a place in next season's Champions League.

While United head into the final day of the Premier League campaign only requiring a draw at Leicester City, a defeat against the Foxes and Chelsea beating Wolverhampton Wanderers would leave Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's hopes hinging on success in the Europa League next month.

Earlier this week, there was a suggestion that club officials had brought a halt to transfer discussions, aware that their plans would change significantly without a spot at European football's top table.

According to The Sun, United will effectively lose £70m if they do not achieve their priority target for the campaign.

That would inevitably hinder Solskjaer in the transfer market at a time when United are hopeful of securing a big-money deal for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

Cheaper alternatives have allegedly been identified in the event that United have to spend another year in the Europa League.
