Manchester United could allegedly sign Victor Osimhen this summer as part of a deal that would take Cristiano Ronaldo to Napoli.

Cristiano Ronaldo's agent Jorge Mendes is reportedly in talks with Napoli over a move for his client, which would include Victor Osimhen making the switch to Old Trafford.

Ronaldo's future remains the subject of much speculation, with the 37-year-old still determined to leave Old Trafford before the end of the summer transfer window.

The Portugal international, who was dropped from the starting side against Liverpool last time out, wants to join a Champions League side ahead of next week's deadline.

There have recently been claims that the attacker could return to Sporting Lisbon, but Man United have allegedly played down the speculation linking him with the Portuguese giants.

A recent report claimed that Napoli had emerged as an option for the experienced striker, with Mendes discussing a possible deal with the Italian giants.

According to Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, Napoli are willing to sign Ronaldo on loan for the 2022-23 campaign, providing that Man United pay €100m (£85m) to sign Osimhen.

Di Marzio claims that the 20-time English champions would also have to be prepared to cover 'a good part' of Ronaldo's huge salary at Old Trafford.

The Portuguese is yet to find the back of the net in his three Premier League appearances against Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford and Liverpool.

Osimhen, though, has been in strong form for Napoli at the start of the 2022-23 Serie A campaign, scoring twice and providing one assist in two appearances.

The 23-year-old was in impressive form for his Italian club during the 2021-22 campaign, scoring 18 goals and registering six assists in 32 appearances in all competitions.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria international has scored 30 goals and provided 10 assists in 64 matches for the Blues since making the move from Lille in September 2020.

Last month, Osimhen, who has also been linked with Arsenal, said that he was "very happy" at Napoli amid the speculation surrounding his future.

"I'm in Napoli. And I have great respect for my club," he told Corriere dello Sport. "They are just rumours of the market. I'm fine here and I've never had such close relationships with everyone as at this moment.

"I spoke to the president, he is the one who decides, and he reassured me by explaining the club's plans. I am happy with what he told me and the purchases are of quality: words were followed by deeds. I am very happy to play with Napoli and we will see in the future."

Man United continue to chase Ajax attacker Antony in the latter stages of the summer transfer market, but the club have allegedly seen their latest offer for the Brazil international turned down.
