Man United 'considering £39m move for Ibrahima Konate'

Manchester United are reportedly interested in signing RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate.

The Red Devils are expected to bring a new centre-back to the club during this summer's transfer window, with head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer looking for a partner for Harry Maguire.

United had been strongly linked with Leipzig's Dayot Upamecano, but the France international has agreed to join Bayern Munich after the German champions activated his release clause.

The 20-time English champions have also been credited with an interest in Konate, who will have a €45m (£39m) release clause in his contract during this summer's transfer window.

According to Bild, United are considering an approach for the 21-year-old, who has only just returned to action following an ankle problem, which kept him out from the middle of December to the start of February.

Solskjaer's side would allegedly be prepared to allow Axel Tuanzebe to leave the club on loan this summer if they bring a new centre-back to the club.
